Future

Before looking ahead, it's useful to look back on the (past) major milestones:

• July 2002: Initial implementation
• August 2002: Used in production
• July 2004: ost is fully featured and a mature tool
• November 2005: Improved Solaris 10 support, including Solaris Zones (among other things)
• January 2008: GNU/Linux and BSD variants port
• March 2008: RPM Package Manager support

ost's future is very much be determined and driven by its users. So, please join us on the ost-users mailing list, and contribute your thoughts (or more) to the project.

Upcoming major enhancements:

• Support for OpenSolaris' Image Packaging System

• Support for an internal supplemental catalog
