Message-ID: <20070114200308.GA24556@bzz.taranis.org> Version 2.2a2 of drraw is now available for download from: http://web.taranis.org/drraw/ The alpha release of drraw brings a few enhancements over the 2.1.x releases; most importantly, it has full support for the new RRDtool features introduced with version 1.2, while remaining backward compatible with older RRDtool releases. Whether you are running RRDtool 1.2.x or earlier, your feedback would be appreciated. Enjoy! Changes since 2.2a1 [2006/07/20]: - Added a dashboard style display for templates (with multiple selections). - New "Format" parameter can be used in graph URL to override saved setting. - PDF and SVG formats are now properly embedded in HTML. - Added warning and check to avoid obscure error caused by misconfiguration. - Minor JavaScript enhancements to the graph editor. - Added notice about CGI.pm incompatibility. Changes since 2.1.3 [2005/06/19]: - Various improvements for the graph editor: + Extensive code rewrite/cleanup. + Added simple HTML tooltips to provide (some) contextual help. + Extended JavaScript automation. + Clarified creation of new Data Sources. - rrdtool 1.2.x support: + Three new image formats: SVG, EPS and PDF. + GIF is no longer supported, automatically switch to PNG. + Removed support for deprecated --overlay parameter. + Added support for --no-gridfit. + Added support for new VDEF, TICK and SHIFT graph commands. + Deprecated use of HRULE, STACK and old style GPRINT graph command. With version 2.1.1, i'm able to do this by using "STACK" as the type in the drop down list, but this doesn't let one control what is stacked (it's based on the previous entry). With 2.2a2, you can't really do it. If you want a headache, read on. you could do this: Say your template DS A procudes a0, a1, ... a39 Set Element to "UN,0,$,IF" and Formula to "+" This gives a new CDEF a which is a0 + a1 + ... + a39 (skipping NaNs). Now, if you template DS A produces b0, b1, ... b39 Set the CDEF to "b0,$,EQ,a,0,IF,$,+" The problem is you "b0,$,EQ" compares the value of b0 with $ (which is b0 or b1 or ... b39), but you really want to compare the variable names, not their values. So while it may work most of the time, there'll be cases when it doesn't. Sigh, i really ought to provide ZIP files for download by Windows users. the file you downloaded is drraw-2.1.3.tgz, not draw-2.1.3.gz despite what IE may want you to believe. It is a gzipped tarfile, which is not a format natively known by Windows, but tools like WinZip (as old as version 8) understand this format. If you've ever done the 30 steps or so it takes to "import" a user generated rrd in to cacti, drraw is a godsend. Some quick questions: 1. How can I add some more colors? The defaults are nice, but a little harsh. If this is modular, I'd be happy to add a few in, I just need a pointer. 2. How about making an auto drop-down of DS;s? Yes, I can RRDinfo an rrd on the page, but then I have to type in the DS name I want to use. Couldn't a list of available DS's for a given rrd be dropped in? 3. What are event files? Message-ID: <43F744E0C1D7334E8AC73B02B5697F75A6E28D@mail.paynet.co.ke> Hello I'm trying to get started with drraw (2.2a2) and am having a bit of a problem. At this time I'm not sure if I'm just being very short-sighted or whether I have an incompatibility problem of sorts. I have a plethora of rrd's created using NagiosGraph v0.8.2_1 and rrdtool v1.2.19. In drraw.conf I believe I have set the %datadirs var correctly since I see the list of the rrd files created by NagiosGraph. The problem arises when I try and select a DS (having selected one rrd file from the list, typing "fiveminavg" as the DS filter RegEx, selecting "AVERAGE" and then clicking "Add DB(s) to data sources") "No data source for "AVERAGE" RRA found in file "/usr/local/etc/nagios/rrd//mailsrv_cpuload_cpu.rrd"!" Below is the "RRD Info for selected DB" output: filename = /usr/local/etc/nagios/rrd//mailsrv_cpuload_cpu.rrd last_update = 1172751903 rrd_version = 0003 step = 300 DS last_ds max min minimal_heartbeat type unknown_sec value fiveminavg 1 600 GAUGE 2 1 rra cf pdp_per_row rows xff 0 AVERAGE 1 600 0.5 1 AVERAGE 6 700 0.5 2 AVERAGE 24 775 0.5 3 AVERAGE 288 797 0.5 rra ds unknown_datapoints value 0 0 0 1 0 5 2 0 5 3 0 149 I notice in the above error message, there is 2 '//' characters - is this the source of the problem (or just a typo in the error message output?) In a vain attempt to resolve the above problem I modified drraw.conf rranames to read: @rranames = ( 'MIN', 'AVERAGE', 'MAX', 'LAST', '0', '1', '2', '3' ); %rranames = ( 'MIN' => 'Min', 'AVERAGE' => 'Avg', 'MAX' => 'Max', 'LAST' => 'Last', '0' => '0', '1' => '1', '2' => '2', '3' => '3' ); Which made no difference (clicking 0 or 1 etc and then "Add DB(s) to data sources")... "No data source for "0" RRA found in file "/usr/local/etc/nagios/rrd//mailsrv_cpuload_cpu.rrd"!"" I do not appear to have any Event Files... Version information from the help page of drraw is: drraw.cgi 2.2a2 <1.214> Perl 5.008008 CGI.pm 3.25 RRDs.pm 1.2019 Would someone be kind enough to shed some light on what I might be doing wrong here? If I may put it a feature request too, while we're at it... I recently upgraded (finally) to RRDtool 1.2, and for recently-created databases, I've turned on Jake Brutlag's Holt-Winters anomaly detection stuff (presented at LISA several years back), and it would be nice if DRRAW knew how to do something useful with it, preferably without the user having to understand how all H-W works. Message-ID: <20070308020301.GB13165@bzz.taranis.org> Version 2.2a3 of drraw is now available for download from: http://web.taranis.org/drraw/ The alpha release of drraw brings a few enhancements over the 2.1.x releases; most importantly, it has full support for the new RRDtool features introduced with version 1.2, while remaining backward compatible with older RRDtool releases. Whether you are running RRDtool 1.2.x or earlier, your feedback would be appreciated. Enjoy! Changes since 2.2a2 [2007/01/14]: - Improved default color assignment (courtesy of David Nolan). - Allow configuring a custom set of colors (courtesy of David Nolan). - Updated RRDs::fetch usage for newer RRDtool versions (courtesy of John Milton) Changes since 2.2a1 [2006/07/20]: - Added a dashboard style display for templates (with multiple selections). OK :) I'm starting to understand ;) Well then that changes what I had in mind for an additional feature. I think I'll add another Dashboad Template style, which enables you to do just that, but with an additional regexp which would let the user choose among a range of rrds. Let me explain: Let's say I have N boxes, with for each M databases containing various sysinfos like CPU, RAM, IO etc. I'd like now to have a dashboard giving me all M graphs for a set of the N boxes, e.g. regexp = node[0-1][0-9] would yield a dashboard [image]: [CPU usage node01] [MEM usage node01] ... [some value node01] [CPU usage node02] [MEM usage node02] ... [some value node02] [CPU usage node03] [MEM usage node03] ... [some value node03] . . . [CPU usage node19] [MEM usage node19] ...
