Yup, that can definitely be done.
But do you even need to?  With the right templates, you should
be able to pick up any new RRD file that shows up.

No, the format isn't free although i forget the details, i'm
afraid checking the code is your best bet.


Really, drraw needs to be rewritten to make such tasks
easier.  There should clearly be modules and so on.  A while
back, i was hoping to get around to it, but given that i can't
even find the motivation to finish up 2.2, i'd say that's
fairly unlikely at this point.
